From the Depths – Forget Me Not

<!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->For about 12 years, the Jerusalem painter <strong>Motke Blum</strong> (1925-2024) volunteered at <strong>Akim</strong>'s art workshop in Jerusalem. Over the years, a unique artistic and personal connection has been created between him and the artists in the workshop, one which is expressed in joint works. These works present a combination of the painting style of the workshop artists and Motke's own unique style: that of the workshop artists is the style of "<em>art brut</em>" or outsiders art in paintings.

Recurring motifs can be seen in Motke's work as they appear in the combined works: grotesque figures, the figure of the buffoon, a fantasy world expressed through minimalist line drawings. <strong>Motke Blum</strong> passed away July 2024 at the age of 99. The current exhibition is a tribute to Motke's way of working in the workshop.

We invited different artists to take part and create a collaborative work with the artists of the workshop who were inspired by him.
