The Flow of Memory

"The Flow of Memory" is an artistic and documentary exploration of memory, identity, and the history of Jewish families in the Soviet Union and the post-Soviet space. The projects are based on personal stories: the realization of Jewish identity, which for a long time existed as a flickering, undefined image — a space between knowledge and silence. Through family archives, fragments of memories, documents, visual and sound imagery, the authors reconstruct the experience of generations forced to conceal their identity. Memory here is not linear. It is like a current, rising to the surface and then sinking back into depth. It moves through gaps and pauses, between presence and absence, voice and silence. The exhibition invites the viewer not just to look, but to gaze — into missed words, into family fears passed down as inheritance, into distorted names, and the flickering experience of life below the surface. Our exhibition is an attempt to revisit what has been suppressed and to reclaim the right to speak, to remember, to connect.
